Head office and manufacturing operation are situated in Randburg.

Kool Aluminium (now Hunter Douglas SA) which has been in existence for over 50 years, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dutch multi-national corporation, Hunter Douglas. This association offers international experience, innovation, well-established and proven systems on a global basis.

The company consists of a core of key personnel who have service records ranging from eight to twenty five years.

This wealth of specialist expertise has proved key in success of the company.

Since its inception, the division has been structured to offer clients and specifiers a turnkey package, comprising sales, design, fabrication and installation of products in the Luxalon® and Hulabond® ranges.

Kool Aluminium (now Hunter Douglas SA) was responsible for the introduction of aluminium composite panel into the South African market.

The Sales Team

Hunter Douglas has a sales team consisting of consultants within the various regions. Their primary function is to service the specifiers. The team also canvasses a wide spectrum of clients closely associated with the industry. Hunter Douglas appears to be the only company in this market to have a dedicated sales force marketing and promoting the range of products in its stable.

The Design Office

This department is responsible for the project design, detailing and co-ordination of material procurement as well as co-ordination with outsourced consultants. Their experience on the technical side of aluminium ceilings, sun louvers and cladding is extensive and has proved invaluable in assisting architects with solutions to their requirements.

The team produces estimates, carries out site surveys and issues shop drawings.

Fabrication

The factories are situated in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. They are well-equipped specialized plants that work primarily with aluminium products.

The factory employs 37 full-time employees who are responsible for the fabrication, roll forming, punching and brake-press operations as well as production of awnings.

The combined experience and hands-on supervision on the production floor of the staff ensure continuity and quality of production.

Installation

This department consists of a contracts manager with two supervisors with a combined service in excess of 60 years in the company.

Hunter Douglas has a base of accredited sub-contractors, most of whom are ex-employees of the company. This blend has proved to be both reliable and efficient over the years.
